The fourth year Education students of Lourdes College participated in the Regional Teacher Education Students’ Congress organized by the Philippine Association for Teacher Education (PAFTE) Region X and Association of Students in Teacher Education Region X (ASTER 10). This was held at Capitol University Gymnasium last March 8, 2019, with the theme: “The Opportunities and Challenges of 4.0 Industrial Revolution for the 21st Century Teachers “.

Students from different colleges and universities of Region X participated in the said event. It started with a processional march of the ASTER school representatives with their deans along with the PAFTE 10 officers and Cluster Heads.

The morning session was filled with inspirational and educational talk which was the first part of the program. The resource speakers were Mr. Roger Chao, UNESCO, Ms. Julie L. Sabalsa and Dr. Cherry Mae Limbaco, Schools Division Superintendent of Bukidnon. They shared their knowledge and expertise about the core view on the opportunities and challenges of 4.0 Industrial Revolution for the 21st century teachers. They also discussed the importance of Information Communication Technology skills and its instructional integration for the lifelong learners. Moreover, the student teachers were also oriented application for Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and DepEd hiring guidelines of Teacher 1 positions.

In line with the objectives of the event, the student teachers were able to participate in the academic and sports competition during ASTER – X Olympics which took place in the afternoon. The events during the Olympics were basketball (with Kirk Caesar Mendoza and Adrian Borres), volleyball, LET quiz bowl (with Leah Carrasco and Ma. Paula Lanza), the spot lesson plan-making (with Kris Diane Pecasales), ASTER T-shirt design (with Aleeza Tres Reyes), and research presentation (with Marietta Abel).

The whole event was indeed engaging and successful as the participants bring with them the knowledge and enjoyment they have experienced all throughout the event.
