To increase the employability of HRM students, LC offers ladderized curriculum duly approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Effective this school year 2007-2008, HRM students who decide to enroll in HRM Ladderized Curriculum can apply for a certification in any of the following qualifications: Front Office Services, Food and Beverage Services, Bartending, Housekeeping, and Baking & Pastry Production. Other than passing the course requirements, the student who would like to obtain the national certification Level 2 should submit herself/himself to an assessment conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority otherwise known as TESDA.
Part of the institution’s thrust is exposure of faculty to international conferences to update them of latest educational trends and innovations in teaching. On August 6-14, 2007, Judith C. Chavez,DM-HRM represented the school to the Institute in Differentiating Instruction in Mariott Marquis Hotel, New York. The aims of the workshop are to equip the participants with a deep understanding of the nature of the learners and to design strategies and learning resources that match the learners’ learning preferences. The institute was handled by the authors themselves: Drs. Kenneth and Rita Dunn with the other experts in Learning Style-Dunn and Dunn Model.
Winners of the recently concluded Division Press Conference were given the chance to join in the Regional Press Conference held at Bukidnon National High School, Malaybalay City last November 22 – 24, 2007. From Lourdes College Grade School contingent, Catherine Lynn S. Alcober joined the editorial writing in English while Kathy Josephine M. Pesado represented the editorial cartooning in English. They were chaperoned by their active moderator, Mrs. Filma C. Orcerada.
Congratulations to C. Alcober who garnered the 8th place out of the 56 contestants.

LC Basic Education Department Faculty Join
the RVM Curriculum Revision
English and Math Faculty of the Grade School and High School Levels went to Manila to attend the workshop on RVM Curriculum. The main objective of the workshop is to realign the RVM Basic Education Curriculum with the new RVM Education Ministry’s vision and mission. The alignment process also takes into account the Ignacian core values of Faith, Excellence and Service.
The LC Basic Education Department participates in the “Pondo ng Pinoy” movement inspired by the call of the Gospel in sharing one’s blessings with the poor.
Each giver is encouraged to have a receptacle, which could be an empty softdrink bottle or a milk can labeled with these words “Pondo ng Pinoy”.
The giver drops 25 centavos or 1 peso coin to this receptacle. What is significant is not only the amount gathered but the generosity of the heart that beats for a fellowman in need. The spirit behind this project is reaching out to others in love.
The amount collected may be offered during the Sunday Mass or coursed through their school teachers who will endorse the amount to the needy.
