Heritage: Founded in 1928 by the late Archbishop James Hayes, S. J. as San Agustin Parochial School, an elementary school for boys and girls. Five years later, in 1933, the school gave to the community its first twenty (20) graduates and responded to a growing felt need of High School Catholic Education in the city, the school operated with separate principals for the boys and for the girls. The girls division saw the birth of LOURDES ACADEMY which was managed by the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) Sisters.

Motto: Initium Sapientae Timor Domini translated from Latin into English means “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." Appropriately, it has become the college motto because it signifies filial fear, love, awe and profound reverence for the Divine Source of wisdom, grace and life.

College Curricular Offerings: Teacher Education Courses, Nursing, Social Work, Liberal Arts, Business-related Courses and Hotel and Restaurant Management. .

Location: Main Campus at corner Hayes – Capistrano Sts., situated at the heart of the city near the St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral, and the City Hall, the seat of the Cagayan de Oro City government. Basic Education Campus is found in a three-hectare complex at Macasandig, one of the suburban barangay of Cagayan de Oro.

Population: Higher Education: 1,571 graduate and undergraduate students mostly from Northern Mindanao provinces; 85 faculty members, 77% with PhD and or highest appropriate degrees. Basic Education: 989 basic education students with 43 teachers. Student-faculty ratio of 15:1.

Atmosphere: The two campuses are very conducive to learning. The spiritual needs and nourishment of students, faculty and the rest of the academic community is satisfied with the provision of a place for solitude (Prayer Rooms and a main Chapel. Regular celebration of the Eucharist during First Fridays, First Saturdays, Special Feasts of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary and Mother Ignacia, the RVM Foundress. Safety and security of the people in the campus are part of our major concerns in the institution; more than 20 student clubs and organizations. No fraternities or sororities.

Graduate Studies: The Masters Degree Programs are as follows: Master of Arts in Education major in Educational Management, Elementary Education, Childhood Education, Teaching English Communication Arts and Teaching Physical Education, Master of Arts in Home Economics, and Master of Arts in Human Resource Development.

Recognition for Quality Assurance: Accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, College and Universities (PAASCU) since 1979. Granted the singular privilege of Deregulated Status by the Commission of Higher Education for its meritorious achievement in higher education in the provision of instruction and in the conduct of research and community extension services; also recognized for high performance of graduates in the licensure examinations; and for maintaining a tradition of integrity and excellence as well as untarnished reputation in the educational service.

Facilities: Two campuses, the Main is the original and largest campus; it houses virtually 45 classrooms including the laboratories with the administrative offices in the oldest building, the Mother Ignacia Building, the first tallest building in the City accommodating the three-floor library, AV Center, Nursing and Music Program; the Auditorium, Chapel and the Dormitory. The Basic Education campus includes the Assumption Building (High School), St. Joseph Building (Administrative), the Holy Angel Building (Preschool) and the Holy Child Building (Elementary School) as well as the Gymnasium.
